JAMMU — Jammu and Kashmir police on Sunday arrested a militant, affiliated with The Resistance Front (TRF), the frontal organization of Lashkar-e-Taiba from Jammu Tawi Railway Station.
As per police spokesperson, SOG Jammu laid special nakas at different locations of Jammu city on basis of credible inputs about the movement of Kashmir based militant in Jammu.
During checking near railway station Jammu, one scooty driver dropped a pillion at some distance of about 50-60 metres behind naka point and fled away, police spokesperson said in a statement.
“The pillion started moving fast towards nearby-lane and was carrying a blue/black bag on his back,” the statement said.
“On this suspicious movement, police party chased him and he was overpowered at some distance,” it reads.
“On preliminary questioning, he disclosed his identity as Sheikh Sunain Yousuf alias Raja Sultan resident of Gadapora, Shopian.”
“During search, one pistol loaded with seven cartridges was recovered. He was put under sustained questioning on the spot by officers/officials of SOG Jammu,” the statement further reads.
“He disclosed that he is an active militant of TRF and he had come to Jammu for a specific task, which was not yet conveyed to him by his handlers,” it reads.
“He was also in touch with valley based handlers and with the handlers sitting across, through telegram and signal app,” the statement reads.
The questioning of the arrested ‘militant’ is going on.
“A hunt has been launched to nab two of his associates who provided support to him for reconnaissance. It is also believed that links of Jammu based handlers/OGWs will also come to the fore,” the police statement reads.
