ANANTNAG — Three unidentified militants were killed in a gunfight that broke out between militants and government forces at Kawarigam village of Achabal in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday.
Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar said that a joint team of police, army’s 19 RR and CRPF launched a Cordon-and-search-operation (CASO) on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.
He said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering a gunfight.
In the ensuing gunfight, three unidentified militants have been killed while the search operation is going on in the area. “All three are locals and they were affiliated with LeT outfit,” IGP said.
