SRINAGAR —The World health Organization (WHO) has provided one hundred oxygen concentrators to the union territory (UT) of Ladakh on Tuesday to fight COVID-19 in the mountainous region.
Quoting an official, KDC reported that a team of World health Organization delivered one hundred oxygen concentrators to Leh by road and handed over to Principal Secretary Health and Medical Education Dr Pawan Kotwal and Dr Iftikhar M Chaudhry from the National Health Mission.
He said that the WHO vehicles carrying the resources reached Leh through a “Green Corridor” provided by the traffic police at the request of Superintendent of Police, Ganderbal, Feroz Yahya.
He said that the inter-departmental coordination was led by Dr Suneem Khan, Nodal Officer for COVID-19 for the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Srinagar.
Despite snow and landslides blocking sections of the road, the journey was completed in one day via Drass, the official added. (KDC)
