SRINAGAR — A number of teachers on Wednesday staged a silent protest against the government for not releasing the salaries of their colleagues.
Scores of teachers under the banner of The Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF) assembled at Press Enclave in Srinagar and held a sit-in to press for their demands.
Muhammad Rafiq Rather, Chairman JKTF said that 149 teachers are not getting their salaries due to ‘adverse’ report.
“65 among them are not getting salaries for alleged militancy related issue. Although they have got clearances from CID and other security agencies, their salaries are being withheld. There is no concerte order in this regard as well,” he said.
He added that a youth from Kulgam has committed suicide after his father’s salary was withheld for the last 24 months.
“The government must release the salaries of all the employees so that such incidents are prevented,” he added. (KNO)
