SHOPIAN — A father of two minors has gone missing from his home in Shopian district, prompting his family to appeal for his safe return.
Majid Iqbal, 30, son of Mohammad Iqbal Bhat, a resident of Nowpora, Imamsahib area of Shopian district left his house on May 25 and hasn’t returned so far.
Majid’s father, Muhammad Iqbal, said that his son, a load-carrier driver, left his home as for work as usual but didn’t come back to his home.
“We tried to contact him but his phone was switched off following which his friends and relatives were contacted. But all efforts to trace him failed,” Iqbal said. After failing to get any clue about him, the family has lodged a missing report at the concerned police station.
“We have urged the police to search for our son,” said a Iqbal. “He was our lone breadwinner and we don’t have any source of income now. Besides that, he is the father of a 6-year-old son and a 2-year-old daughter.”
Iqbal said that he along with other family members requests militants and other organizations that if he is with them, they should allow him to reunite with his family on humanitarian grounds. The family has also requested the general public to help them trace their son.
An official said that there is a possibility that Majid may have landed in some militant outfit but at this juncture it would be premature to draw conclusions as investigations to trace him are still on. (KNO)
