SRINAGAR — Amid the continuous surge in COVID-19 cases and resultant deaths in Jammu and Kashmir, Kashmir division is facing an acute shortage of vaccines. Not a single person was vaccinated in the valley on Sunday while almost 9000 people received jabs in Jammu division.
As per data available with KNO, no person was vaccinated in any district of Kashmir division on Sunday. On the contrary, 8,750 persons were vaccinated in Jammu division.
2,814,272 doses of vaccine have been administered so far in J&K — 1,335,954 in Kashmir division and 1,478,318 in Jammu division.
People across Kashmir have been complaining about an acute shortage of both Covishield and Covaxin vaccines for the last several days.
Pertinently, in the last four days, only 818 doses have been administered in Kashmir while during this period, around 40,000 doses have been administered in the Jammu division.
Notably, there are over 51 thousand active cases in the J&K presently.
The J&K administration has repeatedly claimed that there is no shortage of COVID-19 vaccines in the Union Territory. (KNO)
