SRINAGAR — Three militants of Al-Badr outfit were killed while as one militant surrendered in a gunfight at Kenigam area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thrusday.
The gunfight had ensued after a team of police and army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles was fired upon during a cordon-and-search-operation launched in the area amid specific information about the presence of the militants.
Quoting an unnamed police officer, GNS reported that three militant were killed in the gunfight. However identity of the slain is yet to be ascertained.
Earlier, police said “that the newly recruited militants were asked to surrender, however they refused the offer, instead lobbed grenade and fired towards joint team, leading to a gunfight.”
In the middle of the gunfight, one among the four militants identified as Tawseef Ahmad, surrendered. (GNS)
