SRINAGAR — At least four newly recruited militants are trapped in Kenigam area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district where government forces have launched a cordon-and-search-operation (CASO) on Wednesday evening, officials said on Thursday.
Quoting a senior police officer, GNS reported that efforts are underway to make the trapped militants surrender.
“We have brought their families and are trying to persuade them to surrender,” the officer said. He also denied the reports of a gunfight.
On Wednesday night, the J&K Police, Army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF had launched a CASO in the area after receiving specific information about the presence of militants. (GNS)
