The fifth phase of maiden District Development Council (DDC) elections that began on Thursday morning recorded a voter percentage of 9.46% across different constituencies spread over all but one (Srinagar) districts of Jammu and Kashmir till 9 am.
According to the figures provided by the office of State Election Commissioner, in Kashmir Division, up to 9 am, Kupwara recorded a voting percentage of 5.19%, Bandipora 6.61%, Baramulla 8.01%, Ganderbal 3.46%, Budgam 8.34%, Pulwama 1.85%, Shopian 0.47%, Kulgam 3.94% and Anantnag 3.19%.
In Jammu division, Kishtwar recorded a voting percentage of 10.57%, Doda 11.17%, Ramban 9.62%, Reasi 12.15%, Kathua 12.60%, Samba 17.14%, Jammu 16.63%, Udhampur 8.00%, Rajouri 15.72% and Poonch 14.34% up to 9 am.
Kashmir division recorded a polling percentage of 4.81% and Jammu division has 13.58% voter turnout. Overall, 9.46% of voters have cast their votes up to 9 am.
Polling is being held from 7 am to 2 pm.
Out of the total 280 constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir (14 in each of the 20 districts), 37 are going to polls in the fifth phase – 17 in Kashmir and 20 in Jammu divisions.
