Pulwama: One militant has been killed while the other surrendered before forces during an encounter between government forces and militants in Meej Pampore area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday.
Quoting a senior police officer, Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reported that after one unidentified militant was killed, the other one was given an offer to surrender, again.
After hectic efforts of Police and Army, he accepted the offer and surrendered, the officer said.
Earlier, an official said that a joint team of Police, Army’s 50 RR and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation (CASO) on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.
He said as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.
As cordon was being laid, the militants fired indiscriminately resulting in injuries to two civillians, officials said, adding that one among the injured civilians, identified as Abid Nabi, succumbed at SMHS Srinagar on Friday morning while as condition of Kifayat Ahmad is stable at Bones and Joints Hospital Srinagar.
