Srinagar: Soon after being released from 14-month-long detention, the former Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday termed August 5, 2019 decision by the government as undemocratic and unconstitutional, and said that it continued to haunt her during the detention period.
Soon after being released, Mehbooba Mufti, in a one minute and 23-second long video message, said that August 5, 2019 decision continued to haunt her for the last over one year and said: “I believe that people across J&K are also going through the same situation.”
“Nobody amongst us can forget the day when everything was snatched from us,” she said, adding that “we should vow to fight for our rights that were snatched undemocratically and unconstitutionally by the central government on August 5, 2019. We should also continue our struggle for the Kashmir cause that has so far claimed thousands of lives.”
She said, “I know the path is not easy but I believe that our resolve will help us in achieving the goal.”
She further said that as she has been released today, she would want all those who are under detention in different jails should be released as well. KNO
