Srinagar: After four days of searches following a brief gunfight in Check Kawoosa area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district, a body of a militant was recovered late Thursday night from a waterbody.
Quoting a senior police officer, Global News Service reported that the body was recovered from Sukhnag Naalah (Waterbody) in which the militant had jumped after suffering bullet injury in his neck during the brief gunfight on September 7.
The encounter had ensued after a joint team of Police, Army’s 2 RR and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation amid inputs about the presence of militants.
Since then the searches were continuing with the help of marine commandos and the body was recovered late last night.
As per sources, the slain militant has been identified as Aqib lone, a resident of Aglar Shopian, and believed to be affiliated with JeM.
Earlier on Thursday, police claimed to have recovered a bag during the search operation containing a Chinese grenade, a fully-loaded AK-47 magazine, a knife, 2 cell phones and a pheran.
