Pulwama: A policeman and his associate were arrested for their involvement in a highway robbery incident in South Kashmir’s Awantipora town.
Police sources told Kashmir News Trust that Awantipora police Tuesday solved a highway robbery case and arrested the duo including a policeman.
Divulging information about the case, sources said that a truck driver, Reyaz Ahmad Sheikh of Hari Ganwan Kangan, lodged a complaint at Police Station Awantipora claiming that some goons stopped his truck (JK05A-6896) on Lethpora Highway and looted 2 cell phones and Rs 10,000 from him.
Police registered an FIR vide number 111/2020 under relevant sections. During the investigation, CCTV footage was analysed which lead police to a scooty used by the accused.
Upon further probe, the accused were identified as policeman Mudasir Ahmad Bhat of Malik Angan Fateh Kadal Srinagar and Uzair Yousuf Dar of Babapora Sheeltang Habakadal Srinagar. They were later arrested and looted cash of Rs 10,000 was recovered from them.
Sources added that the arrested policeman is posted at District Police Lines Srinagar. KNT
